ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

FREE PAPER PRESENTATION

Description

Scientific research that you have conducted can be presented as Free Papers. If the paper is selected, then you will get an opportunity to make a podium presentation of your work at APSS 2020.

The reviewers of the Free Papers score the papers based on various criteria. If your paper is amongst the Best Papers scored by the reviewers, your paper will be automatically selected for competing in the Best Paper Session which would be conducted in the Main Hall.The winner of the Best Paper Session would be entitled for the prize - 4 weeks BSS fellowship with travel allowance.

Rules

  • Abstract submission deadline: November 30, 2019 - 11.45 pm
  • Submit Abstract (300 words) and Full Paper in English in plain text format.
  • The abstract should be structured as title, introduction, materials & methods, results and conclusions. It should include five keywords.
  • If the Reviewers/ Judges demand a Masterchart of study data, it will be mandatory for the author/s to submit the same to APSS 2020 Scientific Committee. The master chart should be verified and countersigned by the Head of Department in cases where the work has been done in a teaching institute or when the manuscript is a multicenter study. Failure to produce the Master chart may invite disqualification.
  • Once selected, the authors would be requested to submit the Paper [in PPT format], 2 weeks before the Conference.

E-POSTER PRESENTATION

An E-poster is a short Powerpoint presentation detailing your scientific work. At APSS 2020, your PPT will be uploaded onto computers at the conference venue and will be open for viewing by delegates during the course of the conference.

The reviewers score the abstracts based on various criteria. If your research work is amongst the best scored by the reviewers, your work will be automatically selected for competing in the Best Poster session which would be conducted in the Main Hall.The winner of the Best Poster Session would be entitled for the prize - 4 weeks BSS fellowship with travel allowance.

All posters carry the same weightage as free papers. Poster presenters will receive an acknowledgement certificate from APSS 2020.

  • There is a prize for the Best Poster.
  • At the conference, you can submit your E-Poster at the designated poster area in Leela Hotel.
  • Once selected, authors shall be requested to submit their E-poster [in PPT format], 2 weeks before the Conference.

VIDEO PRESENTATION

At APSS 2020, we will be running an OPEN Theatre where videos made by delegates will be presented by the delegates. The videos must highlight routine or innovative procedures, newer technique or even examination of a patient.

The videos will be reviewed by our reviewers. The best videos will automatically be selected for presentation in the Best Video Competition at APSS 2020.The winner of the Competition would be entitled for the prize - 4 weeks BSS fellowship with travel allowance.

Rules

  • Abstract submission deadline: November 30, 2019 - 11.45 pm
  • A written abstract must be submitted for evaluation.
  • Written abstract must explain what the video is aiming to demonstrate (150 words).
  • Manufacturer’s demo videos are not allowed and will mean automatic disqualification.
  • Once selected, the authors would be requested to submit the Video 2 weeks before the Conference
  • Technical specifications for the video file are as follows:
    • File format: .mp4
    • Duration: Maximum 15 minutes
    • The 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio is preferred. Please edit in the native format of your camera if you can. 4:3 is acceptable. However, please do not "stretch" your video.
    • The maximum video size allowed as an abstract is 500 mb
  • Patient Privacy: Identifying information, including patients' names, initials, or hospital numbers, must not appear. This typically happens in pre and post-operative radiographs, and MRIs. Written consent must be obtained from each person appearing in the work.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

At APSS 2020, the organizers wish to encourage more delegates to present their work. With this in mind, abstracts can be submitted for submission in 3 broad categories - Paper, E-Poster and Video Presentation. For each category, the best presentation will be awarded the Asia Pacific Spine Surgery [APSS] Fellowship for 4 weeks with travel allowance.

Rules

  • Abstract submission starts from 1st October, 2019
  • The deadline for submission of abstracts in any category is November 30, 2019 - 11.45 pm
  • Abstract submission can ONLY be done through the APSS 2020 website - www.apss2020mumbai.com
  • The same paper cannot be submitted for presentation in two different categories.
  • A delegate can make only 1 presentation in each category.
  • Only the lead author of the paper can make a scientific presentation at APSS 2020. Presenting author and no one else from the team gets a certificate for presentation.
  • The names of authors and the lead author cannot be changed after submission.
  • Please do not mention name of author or institution anywhere in the abstract or else, it will mean automatic disqualification.
  • The submitted scripts will be reviewed by a panel of experts in a blinded and coded fashion; APSS 2020 Scientific Committee will intimate the delegate about the acceptance or rejection of the paper by 10th January, 2020.
  • The decision of the scientific committee is final regarding selection of your abstract for presentation at the conference.
  • The APSS 2020 Committee reserves the right to withdraw a paper at any time.

CRITERIA FOR DISQUALIFICATION

Automatic disqualification occurs if:

  • Disclosure of author(s) name(s) or affiliation(s) directly or indirectly anywhere in the text of the paper.
  • Previously published study.
  • Papers previously presented in Spine conference.
  • Plagiarized / doctored study.

STEPS FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

  • Log on to the APSS 2020 website - www.apss2020mumbai.com
  • Click on Abstracts.
  • Read the general guidelines.
  • Click on the category in which you want to submit the abstract.
  • Read the guidelines for abstract submission in that category.
  • Now upload your abstract.
  • Once it is uploaded, then press the submit button on the screen.
  • Only, if you get a dialogue box on the screen that your "Abstract has been submitted successfully" has your abstract been successfully uploaded. You will also get an automated confirmation mail mentioning the content you have submitted along with abstract no. Keep a note of this abstract number and mention the same for any queries regarding your submission.
